Comic book fans were looking forward to see Suicide Squad when it came out August fifth of this year, but the reviews for the movie were devastating.

Critics all around said the movie was bad, or a “waste of money” (Huffington Post) because it didn’t really have anything to do with the comics. Colin Covert, from the Minneapolis Star Tribune said: “This is what happens when the comic book fanboys have taken over the asylum. It is damaged goods from the get-go, the kind of film grown in a petri dish in Hollywood.” Clearly he was not happy with the movie.

Furthermore, many people said that the characters were not adapted correctly, or that the whole setting of the movie was not right. Some critics just thought the movie shouldn’t have even happened. “As a lifelong enthusiast of cinematic delirium, I groan at the very thought of Suicide Squad,” Stuart Klawans stated in his review of the movie for “The Nation” (find his review here).

Personally, the movie was not what I expected at all. I thought it would be more like the comic books, but it is its own story. Overall though, it was not all that bad. Even though the storyline didn’t follow the comics exactly, it was overall a good film. To me the only bad part was how they adapted the characters. They gave the Joker tattoos all over his body and gold teeth all in his mouth, and what not. He just looked like a straight g (Gangsta) as opposed to an insane person. Other than that, I thought it was a good movie with lots of action, and the reviews shouldn’t stop you from seeing it either!

Suicide Squad came out in theaters on August 5, 2016. The movie from Warner Bros. Pictures is not yet out, but it’ll be coming to Redbox soon.
