North vs. West

If you weren’t at Brady St. Stadium Friday, September 16, 2016,  then you missed a gem of a football game for our Wildcats. Both North and West came into the game with 0-3 records, looking to redeem their three losses with a win in an inner city rivalry game.

Our offense looked good early, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first half off of two touchdown passes to Robert Bladel from quarterback Rudy Juarez. In the second half, a balanced running game – led by Zeke Hayslett – helped keep the game in our favor by controlling the clock for most of the second half, which lead to the first win of the season.

Our Cats defense limited West running back Dot Combs to 63 yards on 16 carries. That stat within itself is just the icing on the cake for this  win from Friday night, putting a damper on West’s homecoming. It was a very impressive performance, one week removed from a terrible tackling performance against Dubuque Senior High.

North looked good in many aspects of the game Friday against West, leaving everyone in the community excited and anxious to see where we go from here. Hopefully, all of the good things carry over to the coming weeks and the Wildcats can sustain their winning ways. Go Cats!

  1. This is a great story about a great win. I’d love to hear more about the inter-workings of the student section. Seems like there is a lot to talk about with the organization of that.

  2. This is one of the best reads about our football team! Really shows how much emotion was built up through those first 3 losses and working together as a team the pulled out a dub.
