Fakers at Football

If you’re not a huge football fan, you’ll need all the help you can get for “watching” the Friday night game. And high school football games are a pretty big deal. Everyone gets dressed up in funny outfits and goes to support their team. But do most people really pay attention to the game? Most likely not.  You’ll catch people doing all sorts of things that don’t even involve watching the weird brown ball fly through the yellow pole things.

Here are some of the things that you’ll catch people doing at football games when they don’t really care about football.

Number one, they do take selfies. This is a big one. They take pictures with friends, or with people they have just met. The human species loves to act like they have more friends than they really do and selfies help with this trend.

Number two, they do the chants even though they don’t really know what’s going on. You have to atleast make it seem like you’re paying attention. Doing chants is the best way to do so. Everyone else is doing it, so, by joining a cheer, you will for sure fit in.

Number three, they do dress up in ridiculous outfits. There is a theme for each football game, so of course you will want to dress up like everyone else and show your school spirit. Also, that’s another chance for a selfie. And it is definitely fun to have the chance to dress up in a ridiculous outfit and have nobody make fun of you because everyone looks just as crazy as you do.

Number four, they do gawk at the boys/girls. This is a big one for some reason. A lot of flirting goes on at the games. Nobody really knows why, it is just the way it goes.

Finally, number five, they do talk about how much they love football when in reality they  don’t even understand the concept of the game. Let’s be honest. Everyone is just there for the quick pictures, the flirting, and the hype of everything.

So these are the top five things you will catch people doing at high school football games. You can normally pick these people out of the crowd pretty easily. But, hey, at least everyone is there showing their school spirit and making the student section a little bit bigger.

  1. I completely agree with this article. Im min the band and we play for pre and halftime and half well more like most of the time its only the parents who watch the game and cheer on the players. In the student section there is little people cheering and understanding what’s going on but they mostly cheer becasue everyone else does and they don’t want to feel left out.
