Beginning the Season: Davenport North Basketball

On November 27, 2017 basketball season officially started.  

November 30th, the boy’s freshman, sophomore, and varsity teams all played.  The varsity team took the win against the Jefferson JayHawks. The score was 65-58. Vernon Wilmington and Max Taylor scored the most points and turned the Wildcats up on those scores. They were huge contributors and led in scoring, but overall the entire team did well. They all played good defense and did not turn the ball over in the final minutes of the last corner.

As of December 4th, the girls had not won any games

Basketball

, losing to both Bettendorf and Assumption. The score against Assumption was 51-36. Tough loss for our North girls, but they showed some good defense that will definitely help them out later in the season. The Bettendorf game was more of the same, with 54-32 as the final score. Both games were tough losses but they tried their hardest and will come back swinging harder next game.

The girls have turned it around since these two losses, winning the last four of their games.  

Since then, the fast paced season has continued to move forward.  Here are the scores for our teams so far:

Girls Varsity Basketball

  • 11/28 → North vs. Bettendorf → North Loss: 32 to 54
  • 12/1 → North vs. Assumption → North Loss: 41 to 69
  • 12/5 → North vs. Burlington → North Win: 62 to 50
  • 12/8 → North vs. Central → North Win: 70 to 43
  • 12/12 → North vs. Muscatine → North Win: 56-54
  • 12-15 → North vs. Clinton → North Win: 55-26

Boys Varsity Basketball

  • 11/30 → North vs. Jefferson (non-conference) → North Win: 65 to 58
  • 12/5 → North vs. Burlington → North Win: 79 to 59
  • 12/8 → North vs. Central → North Win: 71 to 63
  • 12/12 → North vs. Muscatine → North Loss: 57 to 71
  • 12/15 → North vs. Clinton → North Win: 78 to 52
  • 12/16 → North vs. Alleman (At the Genesis Shootout) → North Win: 72-58

As you can see from the number of “W”s, this season is off to a great start and we’re looking forward to future games.  Make sure to come out and support the teams on Tuesday’s double header at PV.  Wear your spirit gear; Wildcat Nation has decided that Tuesday’s game is Blue and Gold dress up night.
